Cathie has been exploring nature since she could crawl and climbed her first tree to get a better look at birds and spiders before she was 5. Her paid work in education and sustainable energy policy has taken her to Maine, the Navajo Reservation and India. She and her family took advantage of each new ecosystem to hike, camp and use bird watching as the lens to observe life’s interrelationships. She completed the Maine Master Naturalist Program in May 2015, was a volunteer naturalist at Friends Camp last summer and plans to continue her habit of being a life-long learner. She is co-teaching this Senior College course for the first time and looks forward to exploring Maine’s natural world together with the class.
